1. Design Assistance Grants Available

The City has received $25,000 for its Downtown Building Rehabilitation Design Program. More information regarding the program may be obtained by contacting the city's Community Development/Grant Coordinator Larry Eller at 541-2236.

2. City Wins Grant For Coleman Theatre Complex And Downtown Miami

The City of Miami's application to the Economic Development Administration (EDA) to complete the upstairs ballroom and make road improvements (road, sidewalk, curb, and decorative lighting) at the intersection of the theatre complex has been approved. The total cost of the project is approximately $1.1 million and will fund complete renovation of the upstairs to create a convention and community room, and improve the intersection at first and North Main Street. The amount of the grant is $500,000 and is a re-appropriation approved by Senator James Inhofe. The architectural firm of Sparks and Associates has been awarded a contract for preparation of plans and specifications for the project. Construction should start in the spring of 2007.
