INTRODUCING OUR Community Development Director

 






DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

The department provides for the effective implementation and maintenance of ordinances and policies related to land use, codes, and building regulations. The division is responsible for providing the following:

1. Review of all building plans for compliance with relevant codes and ordinances.
2. Collection of fees and issuance of permits for all construction related activities.
3. Inspection of all structures for code compliance.
4. Enforcement of building code requirements.
5. Provide city utility maps to developers and other City departments.
6. Provide current City Limits maps, zoning and annexation maps.

Currently, the City of Miami is utilizing:
1. The 1996 Edition of the BOCA Building Codes
2. The 1995 CABO One and TWO Family Dwelling Code
3. The 1995 International Plumbing Code
4. The 1996 International Mechanical Code
5. The 1996 National Electrical Code

Lisa serves as the administrative assistant to the City engineer/utility superintendent. She began working for the City of Miami in July 2002 as assistant bookkeeper for the utility billing office.

Lisa graduated from Joplin, Missouri and attended Missouri Southern State College. She is skilled in finance/bookkeeping and banking. She holds an ODEQ Certification in Class D Water and Wastewater.

She is responsible for issuing all building permits, assigning inspections to construction code administrators, issuing contractor licenses and handling various projects with contractors as well as residents. She is also responsible for preparing the agenda and recording the minutes for the Board of Public Utilities.

Lisa is married to Jim and has one son, Jimmy.

David has been with the City of Miami since June 1981.

He has a Bachelor degree in Business and holds ODEQ certifications in class B wastewater, class C water, and class B laboratory.

Travis Jones began working for the City of Miami in October of 2008 as a draftsman.

He is a graduate of Miami High School and a lifetime resident of the Miami area.

Travis graduated in May 2002 from NEO A & M College with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Drafting and Design.
