The Miami Animal Shelter is located on the truck route at 725 D Street N.E. Animal Control Officer Danny Trujillo is on duty from 7:00 to 2:45 every Monday - Friday, but his duties keep him “on the road” and out of the shelter most of the time, so it is very difficult for him to handle adoptions. For this reason, volunteers from the Animal Welfare Society are currently handling all adoption inquiries, preferably by email.

AWS holds adoption day for shelter animals as well as AWS animals every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the new AWS Adoption Center, 501 E. Central in Miami.  Most of the AWS animals are rescued from the City shelter, but we also have some that come from other areas of Ottawa County. AWS animals are housed at the adoption center or in foster homes and all are at the adoption center on Thursdays and also on Saturdays for AWS adoptions from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
