Introducing our ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER

Tim Wilson currently serves as the City's assistant City manager. He began employment with the City of Miami as the street department superintendent on April 5, 1999, in December 2000 he was appointed over the solid waste department and in July 2002 Mr. Wilson was promoted to public works director and in September 2008 was appointed to assistant City manager..

Mr. Wilson has been married to his wife, Tina (Abernathy), since 1989. They have four (4) children, Brandy, Kyle, Devin, and Jacie. Before coming to the City, Mr. Wilson owned and operated Wilson Paving and Wilson Trucking. He is a lifetime resident of this area and a graduate of Commerce High School. He also served as Quapaw's mayor from 2001-2003.


JOB SUMMARY: The assistant City manager is directly repsonsible for the operation of the public works and utility departments and indirectly responsible for all other City departments.

RESPONSIBLE TO: City Manager

OBJECTIVE: To address the needs of the public in a timely manner to gain the respect and confidence of the citizens by showing them we put forth our best effort and that we have the training and knowledge to do the work correctly the first time.

Mike was hired as parks and recreation supervisor on January 16, 2006.

He and his wife Charlene are long time Miami residents. They have two (2) children.

Prior to moving to Miami, Mike graduated from McClain High School in Fresno, CA. He has over 30 years of experience in business, operations, budgeting, and personnel management. Mike served as City of Miami Commissioner for the NE Ward from 1990 - 1992. Being involved in city government along with serving on many community groups and organizations such as president of the Wardog Booster Club and serving on the Miami Chamber Board has gained Mike a wealth of community knowledge. Mike's desire is to work tirelessly to improve recreation for citizens in the Miami area.

JOB SUMMARY: 
The supervisor of parks and recreation is responsible for the operation of all City parks, Miami Municipal Swimming Pool, Miami Fairgrounds, GAR Cemetery, the Miami Civic Center, and the City's summer recreation program. This includes management of all personnel, budgets and working with the citizens.

Carolyn Norton has been employed with the City of Miami for over 20 years and transferred to the public works department May 2008.

JOB SUMMARY: This position provides administrative support to the street, park and recreation, cemetery, and sports activity departments.
