MIAMI BEACH, FLA. – A chaotic scene unfolded at a CVS pharmacy in South Beach on June 13, when a man began causing major disruptions — even pausing to dance in the middle of the mayhem.
Surveillance footage from the store, located at 20th Street and Collins Avenue, shows 31-year-old Roy Forty-Vega behaving erratically, grabbing and tossing merchandise, and creating havoc throughout the store. Witnesses described him trashing the premises, including attempts to remove a printer from the checkout counter.
Before the incident at CVS, Forty-Vega was reportedly seen banging on nearby windows. Once inside the pharmacy, his wild behavior sent customers fleeing for safety.
“He tried to grab the printer machine off the register,” said local DJ Seth Lowery, who witnessed the chaos firsthand.
The footage shows Forty-Vega tossing shopping baskets, umbrellas, and other items, and even lying on the floor next to a refrigerator before crawling away to continue his rampage. At one point, he picked up a toy gun and pointed it at people, escalating the fear among those present.
“He threw a water gun at some people — even at me,” Lowery recalled.
In a bizarre twist, the suspect performed a hip-thrusting dance before Lowery decided to intervene.
“I used very aggressive body language and a firm voice,” said Lowery. “I told him to get on the ground, that the cops were on their way and he was going to jail.”
To his surprise, Forty-Vega complied quickly, raising his hands in surrender. “It was like he’d done it before,” Lowery noted.
Lowery stayed on the line with 911 for over 25 minutes before Miami Beach Police arrived. Officers took Forty-Vega into custody and transported him to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in West Miami-Dade.
He now faces charges of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
